On June 18, 2022, after years of preparation, ten men will be ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Washington at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Two of those young men - Deacons Ryan Braam and Alexander Wyvill - are from our very own parish, St. Aloysius Church in Leonardtown! With 139 parishes in the Archdiocese of Washington, it's quite remarkable that a full 20% of those to be ordained as priests this year are from our small Southern Maryland parish.
St. Aloysius Church has secured a 55-passenger bus to travel to and from the event to ensure that as many parishioners as possible are able to attend the Mass of Ordination. Please join us in attending this once-in-a-lifetime event! Sign up below to reserve a spot on the bus! Those who cannot attend are invited to watch on the Archdiocesan YouTube channel.
Ryan J. Braam – Ryan attended St. John Paul II Seminary and Theological College. Ryan has one sister and they were raised Catholic. Ryan attended a Catholic High School where he started to develop in his faith. While attending The Catholic University of America he considered the priesthood and applied to seminary. Before the seminary, he studied computer science in college. Ryan enjoys running, reading, hiking, spending time outside, and computer programming.
Alexander Wyvill – Alex attended St. John Paul II Seminary and the Pontifical North American College. He grew up in a practicing Catholic home. His faith deepened when he became active in his campus ministry and with FOCUS during college. Spending time doing the thing that matters most to him: helping people understand that their life matters in the light of God’s love is one of the many things that called Alexander to priesthood. Before the seminary, he attended Vanderbilt University. He is fluent in the Italian language. Fr. Christopher Wyvill, OSB is his cousin. Alexander enjoys rock climbing, classical piano, cycling, running, fly fishing, and camping.
