The mission of the Saint Aloysius Music Ministry is to foster our parish worship through sung prayer and music. Whenever we come together to celebrate the Church's liturgy, our relationship with God and with one another in Christ is deepened. The cantors and musicians lead the congregation in musical prayer during the mass. Our singing together further enriches this encounter, as our voices become one. "Singing is for those who love," as St. Augustine said. Whether youth or adult choir members, cantors, pianists or instrumentalists, our goal as ministers of music is the same: to facilitate and build the sung prayer of the entire liturgical assembly.
The Saint Bernadette Music Ministry welcomes singers and instrumentalists who wish to share their gifts to help foster the musical prayer of our parish. Our Cross Generation youth choir is composed of students from grades 2-12. We also include guest youth musicians during our Christmas Eve program. Our Grateful Hearts adult choir is composed of singers and musicians from high school and above. If you enjoy singing or playing an appropriate instrument and would like to contribute your talents to the parish liturgies in this special way, please contact Beth Domingue, [email protected], Music Ministry Coordinator.
The Handbell Ensemble at St. Aloysius is a multi-generational group for adults and children in at least 4th grade (depending on music experience), and we are accepting new members. Handbells are a great instrument for learning how to read music and playing various styles of music with a group. We typically serve at two masses each month and practice once a week on Thursday evenings. Feel free to stop by and see what this beautiful instrument looks and sounds like, and to try a bell!
