Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as children of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made to be sharers in her mission ( Catechism of the Catholic Church 1213).
If you would like your infant or young child to be baptized, you are asked to attend one two-hour session to understand the responsibilities that you are undertaking as a Catholic parent. Though not required, godparents are encouraged to attend the preparation session.
Parents are asked to register for baptismal preparation by contacting the Parish Office at 301-475-8064.
Baptisms are usually performed on Sunday afternoons immediately following the 11:00 am Mass. Parents are asked to please call the Parish Office (301-475-8064) for arrangements as soon as they know they are expecting.
