Some words in the Gloria (Glory to God) will change. Why?

When we start using the revised Mass Text on November 27, we will have new words, deeper meaning, yet the same Mass. Some words in the Gloria (Glory to God) will change. Why? There have been recent improvements in translation techniques. One of the benefits of re-translating our Mass is that it is closer to the scripture quoted. For example, the new words in the refrain of the Glory to God are “and on earth peace to people of good will”. This is a more direct connection to Luke 2:14, how the angels announced the birth of Christ. The first verse also changes. It will now be longer, adding in all the text from the original Latin. This will better express our awe in the presence of God. We keep searching for words to describe the experience. Word upon word is the best way to demonstrate the overwhelming experience of meeting God in prayer.
