The reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of Baptismal grace. For by the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are bound more perfectly to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are as true witnesses of Christ more strictly obliged, as true witnesses of Christ, to spread and defend the faith by word and deed. (CCC 1285)

In the Archdiocese of Washington young people are invited to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation during 8th grade. At St. Aloysius young people and their families desiring the sacrament are asked to register for classes through the regular Religious Education program or through our parish school, Father Andrew White. Candidates for the sacrament are expected to participate in both the 7th and 8th grade religious formation programs. For older youth and adults who seek Confirmation, special arrangements are made according to individual needs. Please contact the Religious Education Office if you are an older youth or adult wishing to prepare to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. All students wishing to receive this sacrament must participate in an annual retreat and show their weekly Mass attendance at St. Aloysius through the use of their own student offertory envelopes.
