Parish Listening Sessions

Archdiocese of Washington SealThe Archdiocese of Washington will be celebrating its 75th Anniversary in 2014. In preparation for our anniversary celebration, Cardinal Wuerl has announced an Archdiocesan Synod. A Synod has as its purpose, helping the bishop to shepherd the local Church so that we, in the Cardinal’s words, can be “the best Church we can possibly be.” In preparation for the Synod parishes throughout the Archdiocese have been asked to conduct Listening Sessions on 5 key elements of Church life: Worship, Education, Community, Service, Administration and Stewardship. Reviewing these areas of church life we are being asked to identify strengths on which we can build and areas for renewal and development.

At St. Aloysius we have identified 4 different dates for these sessions in the new year and are asking parishioners to please mark these dates on their calendars and plan to attend. It is important that every voice is heard.

All sessions are from 7 – 8:00 pm and will be held in the gym at Father Andrew White School. Doors will open at 6:45 pm for hospitality and refreshments. The dates are as follows:

– Worship: Sunday, January 27, 2013 (Snow date: Saturday,February 2 – in church)
– Education: Sunday, February 24, 2013 (Snow date: Saturday, March 2 – in church)
– Community & Service: Sunday, March 17, 2013 (Snow date: Saturday, March 23 – in church)
– Administration & Stewardship: Sunday, May 5, 2013
