St. Aloysius Novena

June 9th, 2016  |  Published in News

The feast of St. Aloysius will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 21 at our 12:15 PM Mass, and we encourage all who are able to join us.

In the meantime, however, we invite you to join us in a novena – nine days of prayer – for our parish, beginning Sunday, June 12. We ask you to pray that our parish may be effective in its mission to INVITE the people of our area to discover Jesus Christ, ENGAGE the people of our area through a vibrant parish life, and NOURISH our parishioners with the grace and truth of the Catholic Faith.

To participate in the novena, please pray each day for our parish using the following prayer, composed by St. Aloysius Gonzaga himself:

O holy Mary, my Mother, into your blessed trust and
special blessing, into your tender mercy, this day, every
day of my life and at the hour of my death, I commend my
soul and body; to you I entrust all my hopes and
consolations, all my trials and miseries, my life and the
end of my life, that through your most holy intercession
and your merits, all my actions may be ordered and
disposed according to your will and that of your divine
Son. Amen.

Conclude with the following prayer, the “Collect” for the Memorial of St. Aloysius:

O God, giver of heavenly gifts, who in Saint Aloysius Gonzaga joined penitence to a wonderful innocence of life, grant through his merits and intercession, that, though we have failed to follow him in innocence, we may imitate him in penitence. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
