On Friday, September 7th, the U.S. Department of Education recognized our parish school, Father Andrew White, S.J., for what we have known for some time. It recognized it as a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Making the announcement, U.S. Secretary of Education Arnie Duncan said: “Our nation has no greater responsibility than helping all children realize their full potential. Schools honored with the National Blue Ribbon Schools award are committed to accelerating student achievement and preparing students for success in college and careers. Their work reflects the conviction that every child has promise and that education is the surest pathway to a strong, secure future.” In many respects this sums up the dedication of our principal, Mrs. Linda Maloney and our teaching staff. Of course, added to what the Secretary of Education commented upon, is our school’s strong commitment to the faith formation of our students, to their relationship with God and to the Church. Once again, congratulations to Mrs. Maloney, the teachers, staff and students on a job done exceedingly well!!
