300th Anniversary Time Capsule

June 28th, 2010  |  Published in News

Time Capusle On Sunday, June 27th, 2010, immediately following the 11:00 am Mass, the community of St. Aloysius concluded our 3-year, 300th Anniversary celebration with the burial of a 100 year time capsule to be opened in June 2110.

Led by the altar servers the community processed out the main doors of the church to the statue of the Welcoming Christ in front of the Church. It is at the base of the statue where the time capsule has been buried.

Assisting with the burial were many of the 11:00 am Mass ushers/Ministers of Hospitality and Pastoral Council Members- Doug Hosea, Palmer Lacey, Bob Combs, Matt Allen and Dan Carrigg. Once the capsule was lowered Dan Carrigg, the new vice chair of the Pastoral Council, and Anne Davis, both a member of the Pastoral Council and the 300th Anniversary Committee, began shoveling dirt on top of the capsule. After them cam members of the community, young and old, all equipped with a shovel full of earth to secure the capsule for the next 100 years.

Contained in the capsule are memories from our 300th Anniversary Celebration:

Pillows and Letters for Soldiers from FAW

June 5th, 2010  |  Published in News

Soldiers Receiving Pillows and Letters in AfghanistanA few months ago the children at Father Andrew White School created pillows and letters for Capt. Matthew Hoffman and his men in Afghanistan. After they arrived Matt sent back a picture of them receiving the pillows. They have since been distributed across the country. Matt also sent the map below showing their destinations.

Matt writes: “We sent most of them to our outstations… I attached a map to show you some of the places I sent the pillows once they arrived in country. The pillows were delivered by convoys and rotary wing assets with some other supplies we sent out to our companies.”
